Interview with Prof Francesco Visioli. Chief Scientist at the Madrid Institute for Advanced Studies (IMDEA)-Food, and Editor-in-Chief of Pharmacological Research.

Much of the video interview is given over to advice to young scientists about different aspects of funding, which include competition, funding opportunities, funding intelligence tools, networking, rejection, and putting together a CV for grant applications.

Highly competitive

Dr. Visioli starts out by saying that funding application is a highly competitive environment. So you need to look everywhere for grants. 

Persistence

Don’t stop, he adds emphatically, at the first opportunity. Try to look around, because there are some great opportunities out there that you might not be aware of.
